Kyle Kolarz, PGA
General Manager/Director of Golf
Originally from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, Kyle attended Penn State University where he was enrolled in the Professional Golf Management Program. While in school, Kyle was privileged to complete some high-profile internships including one at Medinah Country Club.
After graduating with Class A status from the PGA of America, Kyle accepted the seasonal Assistant Golf Professional position at Crooked Stick Golf Club. During this time, he was honored to be nominated for Assistant Golf Professional of the Year in 2010. He was also able to work the 2007 US Women’s Amateur and 2009 US Senior Open. During the winter months, Kyle headed to Florida where he was employed at two prestigious clubs, Seminole Golf Club and Old Palm Golf Club.
After completing his fourth year at Crooked Stick Golf Club, he decided to take on a similar role as a First Assistant Golf Professional at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During his four-year tenure, he was honored to receive the Assistant Golf Professional of the year award and a nomination for Junior Golf Leader of the year in 2013. He was also able to work the 2011 & 2012 Junior PGA Championship, 2013 US Girls Junior, and 2013 & 2014 PGA Tour Finals Event: Hotel Fitness Championship.
From Sycamore Hills Golf Club, he accepted his first Head Golf Professional position at de Anza Country Club in Borrego Springs, CA. Kyle spent a little over a year in California and then accepted the Head Golf Professional job at The Hawthorns Golf & Country Club in Fishers, IN. From the Hawthorns Golf & Country Club Kyle accepted a job at Heathrow Country Club as Director of Golf in Orlando, FL. Kyle moved back home and took a Director of Golf role at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, PA. He has spent the last two seasons at White Manor. He and his wife Leslie are looking forward to becoming a part of the Hillview team and moving back to Indiana where they met.
Phil Slagle, GCSAA
Golf Course Superintendent
Phil takes great pride in the remarkable condition of Hillview’s course.
Phil grew up in northwest Ohio and got his start in the golf course maintenance industry in high school working summers at Orchard Hills Country Club.
He attended Morehead State University in Kentucky, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Golf Course Management. Phil interned at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts.
In 2006, Phil took a job as Second Assistant Superintendent at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee. He also worked at Valhalla Golf Club for two years and had the opportunity to work on the maintenance staff preparing for the 2008 Ryder Cup Matches.
Phil moved to Franklin in March of 2009 to take over as Assistant Superintendent at the Legends Golf Club. He was promoted to Head Superintendent in August of 2010.
Phil and his wife, Kristina (who is from Plainfield) live in Greenwood and love the Johnson County community. Phil is a lifelong Ohio Buckeyes fan.
Assistant Golf Professional
Carson began his professional golf journey at Sunrise Golf Club in 2018, and joined Hillview Country Club in 2019.
Originally from Madison, Indiana, Carson attended Madison Consolidated High School where he lettered in both golf and basketball. After graduating in 2014, he attended Transylvania University to play golf and pursue a degree in English.
During his college career, Carson was a part of four HCAC conference championships, as well as two Division III national championship appearances. Carson is truly passionate about the game of golf and is dedicated to growing and teaching the game at all levels.
Carson’s main responsibilities include: Tournament Director, Outing Director and Junior Golf Coach (PGA Junior League and Operation 36).
Assistant Golf Professional
Nick started his PGA Professional journey here at Hillview CC in 2018. He has come to Hillview after several years in the automotive & banking industry. Originally from Edinburgh, Nick first started working in golf at Timbergate Golf Course during high school. Nick attended Southwestern Highschool in Shelby County and graduated in 2008. He was the number one golfer on the high school team all four years and holds the school record for lowest round during a match. After graduation, Nick attended Franklin College to play golf and study broadcast journalism and sociology.
Nick has lived in Franklin for the past decade and has made it his permanent home for his family. Nick has a daughter named Grace and a wife named Jenna. He met his wife at Franklin College in 2009. He truly enjoys teaching the game of golf, specializing in youth golfers and looks forward to the day his daughter picks up the sticks.
